Observations: The gifts of Buhari to Naija Entertainment

observations

In one of the top social platforms. This lines of observations were thrown as a joke but observing this is actually for real. This is what the coming of Buhari has done to the entertainment industry as well.

The user says below,

Did you notice that this year:

  1. No Glo Naija sings
  2. No MTN project fame
  3. No maltina dance all competition
  4. No Guilder ultimate search
  5.  No who wants to be a millionaire

And you guys still don’t realise the level of poverty Buhari has returned Nigeria to. Even comedy shows these days are almost non-existent.

Do you agree? Let’s have your comment.

In Enugu: My commitment is to fix my Country – Atiku

Atiku

Yesterday, The PDP 2019 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had a meeting in Enugu State tagged ‘Ndigbo 2019 and Beyond Summit’ where he stated that he is committed to fixing Nigeria.

Punch Report, The meeting which was held at the Nike Lake Resort Hotel was attended by Peoples Democratic Party stakeholders across the country and traditional rulers and Igbo leaders.

He mentions that the economy of Nigeria isn’t in good shape, and he and his running mate Peter Obi will fix it.

My commitment is to fix this country. I think of the future this country will have if I do not struggle to fix it, he said.

Our economy must be fixed and you can trust me and Mr Peter Obi to do it.

He said that due to the dilapidated state of the Enugu International Airport, I am always scared of coming to Enugu. What does it take to fix the runway? A local government council can fix it if they are made viable.

I am a product of a restructured Nigeria. So it is a settled issue.

Article 7 (2) of the Constitution of the APC says that the party believes in restructuring and state police but what have they done about this?

We need to mobilise ourselves and vote for a ticket that will restructure Nigeria.

Girl Nneka Ejezie alleged boy friend robbed her N4.8m

girl

Ogbonna Ogona 29-year-old man, was on Wednesday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates Court in Lagos for allegedly duping his girl friend of N4.8m.

Ogona, who resides in Ikeja part of Lagos, is facing two counts of stealing and intent to defraud, offences he denied committing.

Prosecutor, Mr Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the accused committed the offences between October 2017 in Agege part of Lagos.

Unuigbe alleged that the complainant, Nneka Ejezie, had given N4.8m to the accused, her then-boyfriend, to lease a store for her at Computer Village in Ikeja and stock it with phone accessories.

According to the complainant, sometime in October 2017, she entrusted the accused with the agreed sum to help her in renting a shop and acquiring some goods.

“My lord, the accused did not pay the rent of any shop nor purchase the phone accessories. Instead, he dishonestly converted the whole money to his personal use.

“When she began to ask of the shop, he changed his contact number and his address and she wasn’t capable of reaching him anymore,” Unuigbe said.

The prosecutor noted that the offences contravened sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term with the offence of stealing, while Section 314 stipulates 15 years for intent to defraud.

Flipkart CEO Binny Bansal resigns over allegations of misconduct

Flipkart CEO Binny Bansal resigns over allegations of misconduct

The CEO of Flipkart Binny Bansal has resigned his position from the Company. Flipkart is an India-based e-commerce firm owned by Walmart. The group CEO resigned from the company following an investigation into a “serious personal misconduct.”

Flipkart was founded by Binny Bansal in 2007 with Sachin Bansal and had served as its CEO since 2016 before becoming CEO of the Flipkart Group which comprises its core e-commerce, fashion and payments divisions.

Walmart said in a statement that investigation into the accusation did not find evidence to corroborate the complainant’s asserted. However, the retailer did uncover other lapses in judgement, particularly a lack of transparency, related to how Binny responded to the situation, which is why it has accepted his resignation.

Although Walmart, Flipkart and Binny Bansal are not coming out with details on exactly what happened, Walmart cautioned that “recent events risked becoming a distraction.”

Ugwuanyi’s Visit To Mike Ejeagha a good gesture

https://ift.tt/2FmOM6RMike Ejeagha

For a very long time now, not much was heard about the legendary storyteller and music icon, Gentleman Mike Ejeagha of the “Akuko N’Egwu” fame. As a matter of fact, many people had completely forgotten him.

This was until last weekend when we began to read in the press, how the Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, traced the ace folklore musician to his Abakpa Nike Enugu residence, only to find out that all was not well with the man, who for more than two decades, had dominated the airwaves with his storytelling music.

According to reports, Governor Ugwuanyi who was really not happy with the pitiable condition he found Mike Ejeagha, instantly decided to change the man’s life for the better.

Not only that the Governor had undertaken to settle the hospital bills of some members of Ejeagha’s family who had been hospitalized, he equally had placed the man on monthly emolument and promised to rehabilitate the road leading to his Enugu residence.

This exceptional show of magnanimity on the part of Governor Ugwuanyi to the ace musician, should not only be commended by well-meaning citizens of the country but should equally be emulated.

Apart from the fact that the Governor’s action stands as a signpost for appreciating works of excellence, which Mike Ejeagha’s folklore music epitomised, it also stands as a testimony that in this day and age, some Nigerians could still remember the past. This is commendable.

In any case, Mike Ejeagha may not be the only Nigerian hero who has been abandoned or left to die in squalor and in penury by their own countrymen. There are several others like him. We refer to them as our “Forgotten Heroes”. But thanks to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, he has remembered Mike Ejeagha, traced him to his house, and brought relief to him. We give God all the glory.

Here in Nigeria, people are endowed with different talents, either as an athlete, a footballer, actor or actress, musician, journalist, lawyer, engineer, scientist, etc., or are employed as a civil servant, teacher, etc. At the prime of their lives, they would give in their best, and the country enjoyed their services.

In the evening of their lives or old age, however, the people are no longer able to do much. They are now seen as no longer “useful” to the country or to society and thus considered to be liabilities. They are therefore abandoned or neglected and allowed to die in poverty. Nobody remembers the past, their past contributions to society. Too bad.

That’s has been our bane, our predicament, why many of our pensioners and others who rendered selfless services to the nation are neglected and left to die in their numbers, unsung. They are thus seen as no longer useful to the state and to themselves.

Nigerians are not good at remembering the past, at showing appreciation for excellent services rendered in the past. They are not good at keeping records of what happened in the past. They lack institutional memory, without which one cannot progressively build the future.

Many Nigerians are only interested in the present, in the here and now; two or three months thereafter, everything is forgotten. That’s why the country is finding it difficult to grow or to develop.

One local adage has it that he who fails to remember where the rain started beating him, will surely not remember where he dried himself up from the rain. That’s ingratitude.
